TESTIMONIAL
💬 When I joined Magellan in April 2022, I was primarily looking for new challenges. After several years working on long-term projects, I wanted to broaden my experience, discover different environments and continue to develop my technical skills. The company culture and the opportunity to build a rich career path through a variety of projects naturally appealed to me.
I joined as a senior developer, keen to refine my skills and, in particular, the quality of my code. Over the years, my role has gradually evolved into that of Tech Lead, then Senior Developer. This progression has allowed me to take a broader view, expand my responsibilities and, above all, gain a deeper understanding of what truly motivates me in my profession: learning, building and sharing knowledge.
Teaching has always played an important part in my career. I’ve had the opportunity to lead workshops on Clean Code, share my knowledge at conferences on the history of computing, and take part in various in-house training courses and initiatives. What I particularly enjoy is passing on what I have learnt and seeing those around me make progress in turn. For me, this is a natural extension of the developer’s role: creating value, but also enabling others to create even more.
This desire to pass on knowledge is now taking on a new dimension with artificial intelligence. Agent-based workflows are already profoundly transforming the way we develop software. AI can produce code more quickly and sometimes better, but it needs direction. Our role is evolving: we must learn to guide these tools, understand what they produce and retain control over our technical choices. It is with this in mind that I am currently working on training programmes centred on AI-assisted development, with the aim of enabling our staff to embrace these new practices and pass on the benefits to our clients.
Ultimately, this shift does not alter my core principles. Quality, curiosity and the time spent understanding a problem remain essential. The advent of AI must not push us to do everything faster without thinking. On the contrary, it gives us the opportunity to focus more on what makes our profession valuable: understanding, deciding, building and taking care of what we produce.
This way of approaching the profession owes a great deal to the environment in which I work. Over the past four years, I’ve seen the Digital Product & Experience team grow, without ever losing sight of what first drew me here: genuine human connection, a culture that aligns with my values, and a space where initiative is encouraged. It is this environment that makes projects such as AI training courses possible, and which allows everyone to shape their own career path. And I still have plenty more to build here… but I’d rather keep a little suspense.
