Magellan VSDM 2.0 Solution Becomes the First Certified Solution for Digital Master Data Processes in German Healthcare
Aachen, Germany – The international Consulting and Technology group, Magellan, has reached a significant milestone in the further development of Master Data Management for Insurance (VSDM): its solution for VSDM 2.0 has received approval from gematik (1), laying the foundation for the real-time retrieval of insured-patient data directly from primary insurance systems.
VSDM 2.0 represents a decisive evolution of the existing process. Instead of updating data via the physical electronic health card (eGK), insurers will, from now on, be able to retrieve insured-patient data – in the event of changes – directly and in real time through the German healthcare insurance fund’s central specialized service. The new solution is based on the FHIR standard (2), making it designed for interoperability, future-proofing, and digital connectivity.

Key Role in Germany in digital transformation of healthcare sector
In addition to real-time data retrieval, key innovations of VSDM 2.0 include the use of the “GesundheitsID” (Health ID) to establish the treatment context and integration into the TI 2.0 core infrastructure. This significantly improves technical support for mobile care scenarios, such as home visits.
